Day 304

I have been sick for the past few days with nauseating migraines and stomach aches. Maybe it is a touch of the stomach flu? I am not entirely sure.

Today was no exception. After my exam this morning, I spent the majority of the day in bed. I did not get a chance to use my camera today, instead, I took one using Instagram.

Day 302

I think this photograph will represent this upcoming week pretty well. It will be chaotic.

Day 300

Wow, Day 300 already?

Due to my studies, my recent photographs/posts have not been super exciting and for that reason, there is a little part of me that cannot wait until this project is over. Only 65 days left. Or should I do 66 more days since it is a leap year?

Like each Saturday morning, I had my anatomy study group. Today, we studied neuroanatomy and the ear. The photograph above is the inner ear. There are a lot of things to remember and it is really interesting. I am enjoying and also my study group. The ladies I study with are great. They are hilarious and our study times are always full with laughter. It is great to have people like that to study with, it makes the countless grueling hours of studying go by faster and more enjoyable.

I am incredibly lucky to be constantly surrounded by amazing people.

Day 299

Reading is sexy.

Reading is comforting.

Reading is comfortably sexy. Does that even make sense? No, I do not believe so. Anyway...regardless of its sexiness, reading has always been a source of inspiration for me. Ever since I was a kid, (who am I kidding? I'm still a kid inside), I would read to escape the world around me. Fast forward to a couple decades ahead to today, it is no different.

Lately, my nose has been inside chemistry, anatomy and physiology books. While I find them vastly fascinating, I felt like something was missing. Then I realized it, I was not reading a novel. I was so focused on my studies, I did not make time to read. How silly of me. I am almost always reading a novel.

To change my current literary situation, I am reading "The Hunger Games" for the first time. I am almost through the book. It is a fairly easy read and I like it, though I can say that it is not my favorite novel. It is interesting and I enjoy Ms. Suzanne Collins' ideas. When I am not bombarded by study materials, I would like to re-read the book after I finish it. I will most likely do that, research and analyze the book further. The main focus in the novel is Katniss, a curious character to live through. She is a tenacious and courageous heroine who constantly works to find a solution.

I have a friend, Cheryl, you may remember her as the one who was part of Team In Training and raised $2,250.00 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She is tenacious and courageous as well. So much so, that she departs on Monday for Mississippi to train for her newest adventure: AmeriCorps. One of the most selfless people I know, she will be helping several non-profit organizations to help those in need. I am ecstatic that she will be writing a blog about her adventures and updating it each week. I cannot wait for those updates, I know they will be brillant, as she is.

I met with Cheryl earlier today to chit-chat and say, "goodbye." Though, it is never really "goodbye" between great friends. She reminded me that I have not written much on my photography project lately, so I have decided to sit down and write something today.

Though I did not get as much studying done as I wanted to today, I had a great day, spending time with two great friends, Cheryl as well as my friend Ketrin. I cannot believe how lucky I am to have such great people in my life who I am able to call my "friends."

Good luck Cheryl, I will be here, giving you a standing ovation and rooting for you all the way. Go change the world. Go make the world a better place. I know you will.

Day 289

Valentine's Day is a day to appreciate the things that make your life "whole." Well, that is how I view it anyways. To me, it is a day to remember that I take many aspects of my life for granted: my family, friends, my education, photography, my puppy and lots of others as well. I love everything in my life and those who are in it. Thank you for making it so wonderful.

Day 288

Today I was able to hang out with my photography club kids and we worked on taking some photos. I brought in a few props and placed them on the desks around the room. We worked on angles, the rule of thirds and some other fun photography-related things.

In honor of my Red Wings, I brought in one of the many hockey pucks that I have. The Red Wings have a record of 20 consecutive wins at their home arena. And my favorite player, Nicklas Lidstrom, played his 1,550th game, all in a Red Wings jersey.

Day 285

Winter is back, and boy, is it angry.

Lots of snow means I spent my time at the zoo today in the aviary. It was so warm and humid, I had to take my jacket off after about 10 minutes. When I left the bird house, there was about an inch of snow on the ground and more on its way.

I guess it is time to get the snow shovel out of the garage again...

Day 282

Okay, so today's weather was not the greatest. The clouded skies decided to turn light grey, though it looked like the sun wanted to shine. It was not too windy, but windy enough to make anyone want to stay inside.

After my morning class, I went to the zoo again. Not having the slightest urge to walk around in cold, windy weather, I decided to go to the Butterfly House. It is always warm in there and it is close to the zoo's entrance.

My glasses fogged up as soon as I went through the double glass doors. Butterflies flew gracefully around me as I wiped off my glasses. Since my vision without them is terrible, I could only see streaks of color moving around. After thinking to myself that I probably should have wore my contacts, I embraced the warmth and colors of the Butterfly House.

Butterflies can be difficult to capture. A Roman philosopher once said, "Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity." And though I was prepared for the opportunity to photograph some butterflies, I really just think I got lucky after looking at some of my shots.

I enjoyed spending some time in the Butterfly House and since it was mid-day, there were not a lot of people nor kids running around. That was nice.

Day 281

ROAR!

I have decided that since the weather is nice, I will be going to the Detroit Zoo as much as possible. So if you see a lot of cute animals over the next few weeks, you will know why. I have a membership to the zoo so it will be easy for me to go over there. I love the zoo!

Day 277

I bought my mother some flowers earlier in the week. It does not have to be May to celebrate having a mother. And I love my mommy.

I would like to see Disney's Beauty and the Beast in 3D, which inspired my photograph for today. I saw The Lion King in 3D and loved it. It was incredible to see a movie I saw on the big screen as a child, but now as an adult. As I was in the movie theater, I was surrounded by children. It was great to see another generation able to experience such classic Disney movies. I wonder which movie Disney will make into 3D next.

Day 276

Good morning Lake St. Clair.

Happy February! Today, we had a great sunrise and wonderful weather. 62ºF was the warmest I saw today. Beautiful weather.
